General
Rent For Less Car Hire provides statutory limits of liability insurance as shown on the rental agreement at time of rental. Please contact your rental location for additional information.

The renter is responsible for all damage to or theft of Rent For Less Car Rentals vehicle as described in the Rent For Less Car Rentals rental agreement. For an additional fee, Rent For Less Car Rentals will reduce the renter’s responsibility through the purchase of Excess Reduction at the time of rental. Please contact your rental location for additional information.

In some cases, renters may be covered for loss or damage to the rental vehicle by their personal insurance or charge card. Such coverage may contain a deductible or may not be primary. Please check with your insurance company or charge card company before you rent.
 
Rate basis  
Rates are based on 24 hour periods and generally comprehensive insurance and limited mileage. For an additional fee, you can upgrade to unlimited mileage and reduce insurance excesses.

Age Restrictions
The following individuals, if 21 years of age or older and in possession of a valid driver’s license, may drive the car with Rent For Less's prior permission:
· Renter’s employer (while on company business)
· Renter’s fellow employee (while on company business)
· Renter’s spouse or partner
Additional drivers are considered “authorised drivers” provided full details are supplied and driver's license is valid.. Other individuals may be listed as additional drivers provided they are at least 25 years of age; present a valid driver’s license and complete an additional driver form. Age excess apply to drivers where applicable.
 
Drivers License
A valid driver's license is required for all operators of Rent For Less vehicles. The license must be valid at the time of commencing the rental and remain valid throughout the rental period.

Driver's licenses accepted in Tasmania are:
· any license issued by any Australian state or territory
· a license issued by a US State, territory or possession
· a license issued by a country that participated in the 1949 Geneva convention on Road Traffic or the 1943 Convention on the Regulation of Inter-American Automobile Traffic

International Driver's Permits are only valid if presented with the original local Foreign Country License in English translation and stamped by the relevant authority.

Individuals with Learner's Permits, Provisional or Probationary licenses may not operate Rent For Less vehicles. Rent For Less is unable to rent a car to anyone with a suspended, revoked, expired, cancelled or surrendered driver's licence.

Each operator of the Rent For Less vehicle must be a licensed driver with a valid driver's licence in his/her possession at all times while operating the Rent For Less vehicle. All renters and additional drivers must present their valid licence at the time of rental. For more information please contact Rent For Less.

Distance Charges
All rentals include 200 kilometres per day unless otherwise indicated or agreed at time of rental. It is possible to remove the mileage restriction through payment of an additional fee.

Bond
A bond may apply at delivery by way of credit card or cash dependent upon level of insurance liability selected at time of rental.

Payment methods
Cash, cheques (cleared in advance), Credit Cards; Bankcard, Mastercard, Visa and Amex and EFTPOS facilities are available. A surcharge of 4.0 % applies to Amex

Vehicle Usage Restrictions
Specific restrictions may apply to the use of rented vehicles on gravel and dirt roads. An additional excess applies if the vehicle is damaged whilst driven on un-sealed surfaces. Please check for full details when renting vehicle.

Rate Guarantee
The reservation is confirmed according to the details agreed upon at time of making booking. Any changes to the date's, times and vehicle type may cause the rate to change.

Holding Vehicles
Rental is deemed to commence from the actual reserved time. We will make available the vehicle confirmed for a period of up to two hours after the scheduled arrival time. Please notify us, by calling our office, of any delays prior to the time of arrival. Failure to advise late arrival may result in the release of the vehicle and/or forfeit of monies paid.

Cancellation Policy
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
Should the booking be cancelled at least 17 days prior to commencement of the rental, - 50% of your second stage payment paid to Rent For Less.
Should cancellation be received within 17 days of rental commencing or no-show, the full amount is withheld.
There is no refund for late pick up or early return of vehicle.

Airport Recovery Fee
For all pick ups from Hobart airport, Launceston airport and Devonport airport, a airport recovery fee of  9.5% of total rental charge is applied. All rentals terminating at Airports, but collected from the city will incur a $27.50 Airport Recovery Fee.

For all pick ups from Melbourne airport, Brisbane airport and Coolangatta airport, an Airport Recovery Fee of  AU$45 is applied (Minimum hire period is 5 days). All rentals terminating at airports, but collected from the city will incur a $38.50 Airport Parking charge.

One Way Fee
All one way rentals between Hobart , Launceston and Devonport will attract a One Way Fee of Au$55.
All one way rentals between Brisbane/Gold Coast and Melbourne will attact a One Way Fee of Au$55.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
